The Agronomy Graduate Certificate is a 12-credit hour program focused on creating the opportunity for students to gain graduate level knowledge across agronomic topics. The program emphasizes flexibility by providing the ability to complete the certificate online or on-campus, and by allowing students to select from a broad list of existing courses to create the type of Agronomy Graduate Certificate which best supports their education, professional or career goals.
This certificate is for individuals interested in gaining agronomic credentials for their full-time career and those who may be interested in pursuing a MS degree in the future. The courses in the certificate can be applied toward a master’s degree!
ADMISSION DEADLINES
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in agronomy or a closely related field, with a GPA of 3.0+
- One semester of plant production or plant systems management
- One semester of biological sciences**
- One semester of chemistry
- One semester of algebra
- One semester of soil science
*AGRO/PLAS 131 can be taken for one semester of the two semester biological sciences prerequisite
**Agronomy and horticulture biology classes may include AGRO/PLAS 131, AGRO/HORT 832, and other advisor-approved classes.
Applications with more than two deficiencies and/or a GPA below 3.0 may not be admitted into the program. It is recommended that applicants enroll in appropriate courses to remove deficiencies and raise their GPA before applying.

In addition to meeting the admissions requirements for your program of study, we require an official application for admission (along with a $50 non-refundable application processing fee), official transcripts from all institutions attended, a curriculum vitae or resume, a personal statement, and three professional letters of recommendation.
For international students, a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based) or an IELTS score of 6.5 is also required.
