Admission Recommendations

Although previous experience or a specific degree is not required to enroll, we strongly recommend that learners have:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • A strong foundation in plant science or genetics
  • Undergraduate coursework in plant science, genetics, biology or natural sciences

For those learners without a background in plant science or genetics, we offer a Plant Breeding for Non-Plant Breeders module as well as a series of three Genetic Principles modules that can help introduce you to basic plant breeding and genetics concepts.

Prospective learners can take a free online quiz to determine if they should enroll in any of these introductory modules.
